Champagne night for birthday celebration.

Unfortunately the birthday girl was too unwell the week of her birthday but both Hotel and Country Hotel Breaks were very understanding and allowed us to move the booking a week. We were greeted on arrival and guided to our room. The lift was out of service, but we managed the stairs OK. The room was charming and in period, especially the taps in the bathroom. These were very old fashioned and difficult to use. They dripped continuously. But the nightlight feature was excellent. The spa was great, we had time for a lovely swim before dinner. The restaurant was cosy and well staffed with helpful and courteous waiting staff. The menu looked old fashioned but proved that tried and trusted done extremely well beats anything contemporary that isn't! The food was excellent and plentiful. We retreated to the cocktail bar afterwards and had excellent drinks. The next morning we had a great breakfast with loads of choices and slowly left thinking we must do this again and soon. Only disappointment was the lack of socket outlets or charge points by the bed. Everyone relies on devices these days and this needs sorting out. There were none. Also the provision of a mirror to use when drying ones hair would be appreciated, as too would be a long dress mirror.

Incorrect charges

Nice stay overall, but the hotel tried to charge us on departure for our son s accommodation cost which we had already paid in full. Fortunately I had proof of payment with me so we were not charged but I was disappointed to have been asked to pay over 200 in error. The hotel should have checked their records and I expected better.
