Danesfield house
Was very nice room, house keeping excellent. Only had one dinner in restaurant, disappointing menu.
Bottle of champagne was not in the room on arrival. Had to ask for it at reception on the second day, again this was also disappointing.
Good hotel
Very nice hotel with setting and grounds, nice staff and helpful. It is very expensive for drinks though, no draught beers, peronii at 5.50 for a small bottle and glass of prosecco at 9.00 a glass. You can easily spend 60/ 70 before you know it for a quiet drink in the afternoon.
Marlow is 10 minutes away with Hen.ey 15 minutes. I asked at reception for cost of taxi to Henley they staed 25.00 each way and 15.00 to Marlow. Not true as asked taxi company who stayed 15.00 to Henley. I think they wanted you to stay at the hotel. There is a bus stop right outside which is every 20 minutes to both locations at 4.00 return which we tried, very good service, would recommend.
The room we had ( Victoria suite) was big but needs updating, bathroom tired and shower is placed in middle of bath with shower curtain. Not nice.
Overall I would have even abit annoyed if paid full price on there website. At 840,00 for 4 nights with meal on first night and afternoon tea the next day, not too bad.
The meals in the evening don't have much for vegetarians. Very basic.
Restaurant and staff let the hotel down
I booked three rooms for my partners 30th birthday and had breakfast and lunch included in the price.
The barman made it clear to us that he didn't want to be working there and had been stuck in the country due to Covid, it came across uncomfortable and unprofessional. He made the point multiple times.
We all met for breakfast on Saturday morning and it went wrong from start to finish. It took 25 minutes for any drinks to arrive at the table, including water! We asked multiple times. We all ordered breakfast including cooked breakfasts. This took over 45 minutes to arrived and when it arrived it was stone cold. All eggs were hard boiled after being asked if I would like them runny. Mushrooms were cold and bacon was burnt to a crisp. We let the waitress know it was unacceptable food to serve and we were offered some pastries instead (which took another 10 minutes to arrive). What appeared to be the duty manager actively avoided our table and left his inexperienced staff to deal with the issues.
When checking out I mentioned how bad the experience had been and except for listening we were offered no form of apology or recuperation. Everything had been paid for in advance so we had no choice to accept the bad service but I genuinely was surprised how bad it was for an expensive hotel.
Disappointing for what should of been a very memorable weekend.
