Beautiful place - could do better
The grounds were fantastic (and yet there was very little encouragement for us to use them, in spite of asking for ideas for a walk). The house is beautiful and could feel like luxury with a bit more attention to detail. The young staff were friendly and willing but maybe lacking in training. It felt like a wedding hotel rather than a welcoming place (staff distracted by upcoming wedding, driven by process rather than customer service). Reception unstaffed most of the time and staff unapologetic on return. No wifi for duration of stay (despite young manager's efforts to connect us).
Supper great. Afternoon tea disappointing - certainly didn't taste homemade or particularly fresh.
Lovely stay at Falcondale.
Very enjoyable stay. Friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent choice of breakfast , both cooked and continental, beautifully served with smiley face on my porridge. Thank you. Restaurant food excellent , just a bit disappointed we ate at the bar area rather than the lovely setting of the restaurant. Also don't like the idea of big dog welcome in guest bedroom.
SHORT BREAK
Took advantage of a Daily Telegraph offer and stayed for two nights. My wife's family hails from Lampeter and we intended seeing them, but they were far too busy lambing to be able to socialise.
The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and the view from the balcony splendid. The tea we had and then two dinners were very acceptable, cooked and presented in the modern style, but substantial. The welsh cheese was outstanding. The wine was not as overpriced as many restaurants.
The staff were attentive and courteous and even the Sun shone on our break.
