Overview
The King's Head, in Richmond, North Yorkshire is a super dog-friendly hotel. Built-in 1717 as a gentleman's townhouse, its fine Georgian architecture is matched by its warm and relaxed ambience. It is thought to have been named in honor of Charles II. Comfy and characterful, the dog-friendly rooms to the front of the building are spacious with traditional furnishings and retain plenty of Georgian features, one of which was used by Franz Liszt performed a piano recital. Richmond itself has many attractions including a Norman castle situated above the banks of the River Swale and the ruins of Easby Abbey. There are numerous walks for you and your furry friend to explore including riverside walks, woodland walks and the remains of the Georgian racecourse. Richmond has plenty of lovely dog-friendly walks from the door. From the Richmond Town Trail which takes you and your best furry friend around the main sites including Richmond Castle, the Batts Park next to the River Swale and past the Friary Galleries. Or there are longer walks including the spectacular Richmond Drummer Boy Walk which takes you down the River Swale bank via St Agatha's Abbey and the old Railway Line. One of the loveliest walks is a linear walk from Easby Abbey to Richmond Castle.
