An elegant luxury country retreat, dog-friendly The Lake Country House Hotel & Spa in Wales enjoys a fabulous rural setting in the countryside. With a long-standing reputation for excellence, the hotel offers a wonderfully calm atmosphere, courteous service and the utmost in comfort. The house itself, originally built in 1840 and remodelled in 1900, boasts a half-timbering mock-Tudor facade, while the verandas and French windows give the building a colonial air. Set in 50 acres of grounds, there is almost no need to leave the hotel itself. From a three-acre lake set amongst manicured lawns to thick woods and rhododendron-lined pathways, the hotel's resident dog, Molly, will be pleased to show you and your pooch the best of what this delightful hotel has to offer.

Most of the bedrooms at The Lake Country House are dog-friendly; well-proportioned and richly furnished, each room is plushily decorated to offer its own individual character and charm. Luxuriously appointed suites offer open-plan sitting rooms and doors opening onto the grounds, while all rooms come complete with modern conveniences and sumptuous extras such as cosy bathrobes, Temple Spa toiletries and homemade biscuits.

Dine with Your Dog
You can dine with your dog in The Oak Room or Fido can join you for a pre-dinner drink in the Great Hall next to the roaring fire. Pop your dog back in the room while you eat in the restaurant and collect them again to join you for cheese or dessert in the Hall. The award-winning restaurant at The Lake Country House has a well-earned reputation for inspirational cuisine, with a mouthwatering menu complemented by outstanding wine. A dining experience not to be missed, head chef Darren Tattersall maintains this excellent reputation through his creative, Celtic-inspired gourmet dishes.

Fantastic couples retreat
To say we were blow away was an understatement! We were greeted warmly and taken to our superb room, which was spacious, beautifully laid out and sparkling clean. We then walked around the gorgeous ground and lake before heading to the bar for an early evening drink. Becca and the front of house team were so accommodating and we felt very pampered. The food at dinner was exceptional and always served with a smile; the team are so attentive.
The room was a little hot in our mini heat wave we were having so my only suggestion would be for one of the team to ask guests if they d like a fan. It is written in the guest book that you can request one, but once I had read that, it was too late.
Breakfast was again, very good quality and the variety of cereals, nuts, preserves etc. was excellent. The cooked breakfast wasn t overwhelmingly large, which was great as we headed to the spa for the day.
The spa facilities are lovely: great pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub over looking the lake. We each had a treatment: both whole body massages. They were expertly done and we came away feeling so relaxed and not wanting to leave! We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for such a lovely night away.
Uplifting and therapeutic
Recovering from illness, our two night stay at Lake Country house was uplifting and therapeutic. Highlights were the spacious suite in the Lodge Annex, good food, friendly, enthusiastic, and capable staff from the locality, walks before breakfast on the well-maintained surrounding estate, and the history of the house and the area.
A wonderful Escape
The perfect place for a short recharge of batteries. Amazing food, friendly staff and comfortable facilities.

You may wish to venture further afield for a more challenging walk in The Elan Valley, a location with 72 miles of beautiful countryside with spectacular dams and reservoirs. Also, nearby is Hay-on-Wye at the foot of the Black Mountains, home of the famous Literary Festival and a delight to wander around.
