Great location but a little tired.
This hotel could be so much better than it is. There is the potential but it needs some investment. Our room was in the old house which was fine but it was a little tired and could do with a refurbishment. Main issue we had was that you can only access the gardens through the main function area. As there was a wedding on one of the days of our stay, the only way to sit in the gardens was to walk around the outside of the building. This needs looking at. Also loads of dirty glasses scattered around outside. Missed opportunity to serve drinks, food etc out in the plesant gardens. Restaurant okay but with no exterior windows not ideal.
Not worth the money
Do not waste your money coming here. I requested a call regarding our stay and surprisingly haven t had one. Paid 165 for a nights stay . We rejected the first two rooms as they were in a state of disrepair with old fashioned furniture that wasn t fit for purpose and were finally given a prestige room that was marginally better. The food was nice and the two brothers who served us were the best thing about this hotel. They deserve a pay rise IMO as they were the only positive thing about this place. It needs massively upgrading as at the moment I would not give it 2*. Not worth 50 a night let alone 165. Disappointed doesn t come close
Great customer service, lovely hotel
On arrival the hotel didn't have our booking with country breaks but the receptionist (Esther) was very helpful and put it through manually so luckily everything was fine. She explained everything and booked in the extras we had with the booking On entering our room although it was a little dated was spacious and a lovely view out to the lake with a little patio of which we managed to sit out with a glass of wine as weather was very mixed. The room was a good size with good amenities eg: iron/ironing board/tea coffee facilities, bathrobes and slippers, mini bar with soft drinks and water and toiletries. Nice to have a good relaxing seating area to chill out after a day of walking. The hotel itself had a nice bar area with free pool table which was good and we had a evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant which lacked ait of ambience at evening meal but think this was because we were the only ones in there. Couldn't fault the food so compliments to the chef as the salmon risotto was delicious as was all the food we had. We used the spa area which the pool was very small but we didn't use as alot of children in there so we used the jacuzzi and the steam and sauna room which was fine. Overall the hotel was very nice in lovely grounds with the lake of which you could walk around but was very muddy in areas due to the bad weather. The staff were all very friendly and all said hello and were very pleasant and a shout out to Esther who was very helpful and had a lovely manner.
