Our stay at Kenwood House
Large hotel in a pleasant location on the outskirts of Sheffield. The hotel was quite busy ,in particular, breakfast. The organisation could have been a bit better. Part of our deal with your company entitled us to a welcoming glass of prosecco on arrival ,which the hotel knew nothing about. the deal we had also specified our entitlement to a complementary bottle of wine on the Sunday night. Again the hotel were unaware of this.
On checkout they tried to charge us for one night's accommodation , but I was able to prove that the whole stay had been prepaid in full,so there was a clear lack of communication between your company and the hotel.

A cheap deal
We did get a cheap deal but the hotel is in real need of refurbishment.
Some communal area's were more updated and pleasant, such as the restaurant, bar and tea rooms. The new lighting in the restaurant was lovely on the first evening, but was not used on our second and the room lost it's relaxed ambience.
The spa is also in need of a makeover but everything was available and the staff were lovely.
I had a back massage during my stay and the whole experience was lovely. I felt this was reasonably priced too.
Our room was clean but had major signs of wear and tear on the windows, carpets and bathroom suite. I did laugh at the towel rails as they looked like council issue grab rails.
Along the corridor, there were trays left outside rooms with leftover food, which unfortunately remained in situ for most of the day and into the evening.
You could tell when it was management walking past you in the corridor, as they wore suits and didn't smile or say hello. They didn't pick up any trays either on their way along, which would have given a better impression, as there is obviously not a full compliment of staff.
This hotel's saving grace was it's front line staff, who always met you with a smile. Whether housekeeping, in the breakfast room or restaurant, staff were friendly, attentive and polite.
One thing I did object to was candidates arriving in reception and being interviewed there, within the communal area. It felt embarrassing being able to hear the conversation as we checked out and paid our bill.
It appears the more senior staff have the wrong approach and attitudes. Let's hope they learn from their hardworking employees.
Disappointed
Booked this hotel for a spa break with 3 x friends, the deal included DBB for 2 nights. Both evening meals were very disappointing! 1st night there was no vegetables and the service was poor, 2nd night my friends meal was given to another table & she ended up eating alone as we d finished, the service again was poor.
We didn t go to the spa as an another guest told us it was dirty. Our rooms were dated but cleanish, however the carpets throughout the whole hotel didn t look like they d seen a hoover in months!
Wouldn t go back again!
