Onderneming Barge is moored so this is not a sailing holiday. She is static, but due to her size and weight you will not really feel her moving. If it's a unique dog-friendly escape you're looking for, then look no further! Moored on the River Alde in Suffolk, Onderneming, meaning 'Enterprise' or 'Undertaking' in English, is a superb historic dog-friendly sailing barge dating back to the 1800s. Almost 100 ft in length and 18 ft wide, the barge is characterful and spacious, comfortably sleeping up to six guests plus furry friends. Every detail is kept intact too, with portholes and panelling inside as well as the original wheel and daggerboards on the outside. If you can bring yourself to leave the barge, there's plenty to explore along the coastline and if you can't - snuggle up to the fabulous wood-burning stove for a cosy evening with your canine companion on your wonderfully relaxed floating holiday! Please note that the tide rises and falls making access unsuitable for elderly guests or guests with mobility issues. There are three wonderfully quaint double cabin bedrooms as well as a double sofa bed in the lower saloon. Sleep well knowing that you will have all the perks of staying on a barge without feeling seasick as the barge is completely static! There are two large saloons (or lounge and dining areas), one of which is in the original wheelhouse, with plenty of seating and both have fully fitted kitchens so you can cook and chat in either! The wheelhouse saloon benefits from the beautiful river views and the lower saloon has a fabulous wood-burning stove for cosy evenings by the fire with your four-legged friend by your side. You can also sit up on the deck with your morning coffee or watch the sun go down! The barge also comes with bicycles for you to use during your stay. The Barge is moored on a public quay, with the nearest parking at the Train Station, just a two-minute walk. Extremely Dog-friendly Barge Includes:
