A wonderful birthday treat and the hawk walk was amazing
Returned to Swinton Park and it gets better every time. I am sure when the new spa area is open this will be a No 1 venue to visit. The grounds are truly awesome.
A Sense of Place
We were fortunate to arrive on a special night in December when a choir walked down a candle lit hall to sing around a Christmas tree before a holiday dinner. The dinner had been fully booked so we could not go but we enjoyed the ambiance.
The formal restaurant was superb - and we have very high standards. It was lovely in the morning light but even more charming in the evening. The appetizers were extraordinary in presentation and swooningly delicious.
The casual restaurant was also very good. Local, authentic and from scratch. Lovely soup.
The room was ok. Someone made some unfortunate decisions during the remodel to go with fake wood floors in the bathroom and chose lower quality than the building deserves. Towels were thin and old. Pillows not very good. So it was uneven.
The spa was a bit tacky. I also got red welts all over my legs and I think it was from the spa.
The cooking class was wonderful. Great fun and well done.
We loved looking at the aviary.
Lovely place shame about the food
Was so looking forward to staying in this very imposing looking country Manor House and we were not disappointed, the location was perfect and the building was stunning. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member who showed us to our room which was just as we had imagined. After unpacking we went for a walk around the beautiful grounds and spent a very pleasant hour in the spa pool. After getting changed we had a few drinks in the bar before going to the restaurant for our meal this is where things went down hill, after sitting for an hour and twenty five minutes having only had two very underwhelming courses we had to ask one of the waitresses to remove the plates that we had been looking at for the last twenty minutes, my partner had lamb that was inedible and a hot pot that was so salty that she could not eat it, we ate our rather disappointing sweet and left the restaurant after two hours and twenty minutes feeling very disappointed and still hungry. What a disappointing way to finish what should have been a memorable experience. Sadly we will not be returning but the building and setting are beautiful only let down by the food. PS the breakfast eggs benedict was split and inedible
