Highly recommend
A truly amazing 4 night stay at this beautiful and picturesque hotel. We travelled a long way to get to Swinton Park and I did have my doubts as to whether it would prove worthwhile. It was most certainly worth the long drive. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out. High ceilinged rooms and our room (or rather suite as it was so large!) was gorgeous. We were greeted on arrival and shown around the hotel on the way to our room and given some of the history and pointed in the direction of more information about the history to peruse at our leisure. In our room we had the complimentary sloe gin and also a card wishing us a happy anniversary and some chocolates. We dined 3 nights in The Terrace and 1 night in Samuels. Both were exceptional. The Terrace is more relaxed and we had a few jokes with the staff there. We also had an afternoon tea- amazing, and made use of the spa facilities and had a treatment each- also amazing. We also booked a picnic hamper which we took on one of our walks and we really enjoyed this. The grounds of this hotel are extensive with fantastic views and wildlife. We did 2 walks (maps available at reception). The first was to the top lake and the other was from the druid temple and the bivouac. We drove to this one as it is a 5 mile walk and too far to walk directly from the hotel. Both walks were great and highly recommended. All staff at the hotel were friendly, polite and helpful. There are daily activities which we did not have time for but looked really good such as cocktail making, deer drives and falconary so plenty to do! Housekeeping was a little sporadic as per some other reviews being done during breakfast one day and not until mid afternoon on another which I can see could prove a little annoying for guests that want to return to their rooms however this did affect our stay and the hotel was really clean. Our only minor point to bear in mind for those like us who did not book directly but chose to book a package through another site is to check you get all that is included in your package. We weren't offered the welcome drink (but had forgotten about it!) and found a number of items were not taken off the bill despite double checking on the first day. However this was immediately rectified once we pointed it out and staff were really apologetic so was not really an issue but if I was to return (which I hope to one day!) I would maybe book direct for a more personal experience. Overall a wonderful anniversary break and highly recommended
Birthday treat.

We had a girls gathering, it was totally relaxing and lunch and evening meal were delicious. We wou
