Not what we booked
This is a review for OPL. We booked an overnight package through Off-peak luxury with Danesfield House Hotel. Three days before our stay we were told our stay had been cancelled. No explanation. Whilst OPL rebooked us a stay at Taplow House, which was perfectly lovely, it was not what we booked and TH had very limited treatments available given the last minute nature of our booking. My belief is that Danesfield bumped us as they had filled the class of accommodation we were booked for (we were encouraged to book direct with the hotel but all the accommodation left was much more expensive and for 2 nights). When your business model is selling off peak packages for hotels who then fail to honour their commitment, you're on precarious ground. We won't be booking with OPL again.
Nice mini break
We stayed for 3 nights and overall enjoyed our stay. The hotel management is currently undergoing a period of change and review and the new management style was outstanding. The amazing Scottish team (Peter Walker) that had been drafted in was a breath of fresh air and I hope that the remaining team are able to learn and adopt the small finer details that made all the difference , small details like super hot fresh coffee at breakfast the first cup poured for you and appropriate conversation the first 2 mornings versus the obvious old was of coffee poured from a thermos that was bland and cold the last morning. We had to ask for hot coffee which was brought after a while but please take note of the small details .
Bags that were taken to the room with a smile , 5 star service and maybe a small details bout made a huge difference. Spa was very small and a layout and changing rooms a little confusing , we asked reception if we could book a massage and told
Nothing available but yet we were able to book online . This was a little disappointing but we got what we needed in the end
Overall we really enjoyed but please please take note of the details that Peter Walker will detail and suggest as it was those details that elevated the quality of the stay
Taplow House
We had a wonderful overnight stay here. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at ease.
Our room was a fabulous size, although a little tired and in need of a little TLC.
It s a beautiful building with amazing grounds, warm and inviting for our stay in December.

How to get here
Leave at junction 7 of the M4 sign-posted Slough West & Maidenhead. Turn left onto A4 towards Maidenhead. Continue towards Maidenhead (ignore signs for Taplow) and at the third set of traffic lights turn right onto Berry Hill (BMW & Mini garages are located on either side of the road). Follow the road for 150 yards and Taplow House is on the right hand side.
