Not value for money
Only realised after i left that I was charged for prosecco and a service charge when it was part of my package. Service charges in the restaurant should be optional not added to you bill. I would rather tip the waitress who was excellent. We asked about using the pool to be advised it would be 25 each!!
Lovely stay, shame about breakfast
Great night away - shame about the breakfast!
Bought as a birthday present we stayed here for 1 night with a 3 course meal and breakfast included. On arrival the lady on reception was attentive and swift. Our room (Spruce) was on the top floor with a hobbit sized door (luckily not an issue for me as I am vertically challenged!). the room was spotless and a good size. Only issue was the shower over the bath - there was no screen or curtain so when I used the shower to rinse my hair, the floor got rather wet. We retuned the channels on the tv as there were only a few freebies ones available.
The meal included in our stay was from the Garden restaurant menu but, due to a fussy partner, we ate off the bar menu was no issue for the staff and our main waitress was friendly. There was a slight mix up with our bill (ie we were charged over 50 extra for drinks which should have been put on the bill of the table behind us rather than ours) but this was speedily rectified.
The only issue with our stay was breakfast - there did not seem to be enough staff on duty perhaps as service was extremely slow. The main waitress (who was very abrupt and not at all friendly) took over 20 minutes to ask whether we wanted tea or coffee. However, during this 20 minutes she did take orders off 2 tables who were seated after us so not great customer service there!! Once our orders were in, it then took another 15 minutes for the tea, juice, pastries to arrive. We did manage to ask a different waitress where they were and she brought them straight out. The hot food, when it eventually arrived, was fine if rather sparse. Our meal took over an hour from start to finish (a couple who were seated literally 30 seconds before us received much better service and had eaten their hot food and left before we even got our teas and juices.
N the whole a lovely stay but spoilt by breakfast.
Not so good as last time!
We returned to this hotel because it was excellent on our last visit (pre-Covid). Regrettably I don't think we will return. We ended up with the same room as last time, located at the top of the hotel with a bathroom radiator that was boiling hot on one of the hottest days of the year (the hotel got their engineer to shut it down). The shower attachment in the bath was practically unusable due to lack of enclosure or shower head rest when standing - 2nd time we've put up with this. We asked for the room upgrade (as promised by offpeak subject to availability) of course there was no availability. The hotel had worked hard to accommodate the virus situation but the meals were not as good as our previous visit (limited choice of evening meal when you're on a 3 night stay). Breakfast continental choice was almost non-existent from our previous experience but the cooked options were well prepared & delicious. The Spa treatment (wife's manicure) was too expensive, not applied well & could not be rectified in full due to lack of items needed, not in stock!
