The Greenway hotel - well-positioned for the Cotswolds with pretensions to luxury
This hotel has a well-patronised spa. Our first-floor room(s) overlooked the outdoor facilities, which much to our surprise, given the cool weather, were in regular use (we were not among the customers). On arrival I formed a list of points for attention and only one, a request for a top sheet under the duvet, was met by the first evening and that after a reminder. By the time we left, three days later, all but one point had been dealt with. The outstanding complaint, that the bathroom cold tap ran hot water, probably needed a major rerun of the plumbing! The rooms were spacious with excellent en-suite facilities. The bath was sizeable with a large non-slip mat and handles both sides of the bath. I would have appreciated a shoulder-height wall grab-handle for support when using the shower. One dinner was included in our price which we took on the first evening. This was well-presented, but disappointing due to a severely restricted menu with little to our taste. Apart from breakfast (good), we dined out after that. It was clear that an attempt had been made to make the stay luxurious, but our previous hotel stay had been at the Grand at Eastbourne and the Greenway still has some way to go to match that!
Beautiful hotel noisy bedroom
The room although beautifully appointed was above the kitchens so we were woken early by the sound of a noisy bustling kitchen and kept awake until after midnight by the kitchen staff cleaning up.
Lovely location
Lovely location for a nice peaceful stay. Our room was great but unfortunately the heating was not. We had to move rooms due to the radiators not working in our room and the bathroom, once moved still a problem with the heating although a portable one was brought to our room. The restaurant I believed to be a little overpriced for not a lot of food. Too much fish dishes on the menu, would have been nice to have a chicken, steak or even salmon. Would like to go back but only when menu in restaurant is more varied and could come with a small dish of vegetables. Before returning these are the things I would address. Saying all of that the staff are amazing and a true credit to this hotel.
