A disappointing visit
We have stayed at The Greenway Hotel before and on this visit we noticed a change in the staffing and the service as well. The rests staff are too quick to bring the next dish before we had finished our first, this was at breakfast I must state. The restaurant is good and the quality of the food excellent, although a but too much emphasis is placed on the fine dining aspect and it would be nice to have a dish of seasonal vegetables served with the meal. There is music in the restaurant and lounge, but not enough volume to be heard and this would create an ambiance in these areas, it was too quiet and background music helps the atmosphere. The lounge area again very quiet and when we sat in there after dinner, no one appeared to ask us if we would like a drink from the bar. The last time we were served properly by the bartended. The spa seems to be over booked by day users and when I asked if there was availability for a treatment the answer was no space free. There should be some appointments left free for residents who are paying more to be there, than the day spa guests and therefore should have access to treatments.
The checking out process was spoilt due to the fact that we were charged for the meal on one night, which under the package with you, was already paid for. Again, staffing issues and staff carelessness, made our stay rather spoilt and we won t be returning.
Two night stay
We were satisfied with our stay. We hoped for the master bedroom shown in your picture but were given another room above the spar, which we were told was an upgrade. It had dark green walls, not very adequate lighting, and the sitting room had no window; but even so it was luxurious. We reported a bathroom drain smell which was not attended to while we were there. The evening meal was an exotic 'nouvelle cuisine' style, food as art, which is not quite our style but interesting all the same. We would consider returning there one day.
