Lovely hotel poor food

John, Leicestershire, stayed: September 2020

Stayed on a suite 40 evening meal package deal.staff & room were superb but the restaurant menu bore no resemblance to the menu seen on line,at best average pub food with limited basic choice. The restaurant menu viewed online was the decider on choosing this hotel what a mistake.

Lovely hotel let down by restaurant

Anon, stayed: December 2019

The hotel is well appointed with a selection of lounges, a bar and restaurant. The staff were friendly and relaxed. Bar prices were very reasonable for a hotel.

Our rooms were nice although our friends complained about of a lack of sockets near a mirror to dry hair. Not a problem in our room. Hotel should check all rooms that ladies can plug in a hairdryer near a mirror, and preferably have a seat.

The let down was the restaurant. The wines were shocking: we had five reds over the course of the weekend and only one, the rjoca was remotely palatable. The food was invariably delivered at different times requiring one or more of us to wait or politely waive the others on. The dinners were unbalanced in that they provided way too much meat and very little else. So, sides of vegetables were required and meat left on the plate at the end. The lamb was bland but the venison and quail as well as the pies were lovely. Dessert menu uninspired except in one instance, the blackberry and apple Alaska.

The cooked breakfast comprised woefully overcooked bacon and tasteless sausage, overdone poached eggs, whole slices of toast and, for some bizarre reason, it came with fried bread a la the 70s. We avoided the cooked breakfast the following day and we were all very happy with our choices. Unfortunately, there was too few staff so the coffee took for ever to arrive requiring four prompts.

So, stay at the hotel but eat and drink elsewhere.
