Welcoming and relaxing
We have had another pleasant stay at the Widbrook, the staff were welcoming and friendly as on our previous visits, the restaurant food was good and the selection of Gins is brilliant The hotel is in a great location to visit Bath and other attractions, we had planned a few country walks, unfortunately the weather was against us with torrential rain but we found a few local houses to visit instead. If you want a chilled hotel in a good location the Widbrook is a good option, 5 star it isn t but it s a lovely hotel and good value for money.
A unique experience
We had a wonderful time at Widbrook Grange, the staff are all so friendly and helpful. Our room, the hayloft 12 was lovely the bed amazingly comfortable, with pillows that are soft yet supportive. We had the pool to ourselves which was a great treat. The restaurant food was delicious, congratulations to the inventive chef.blackberry parfait one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. The hotel decor is very unique and interesting,
On a less enthusiastic note, we were disappointed to find a broken slab and loose paving slabs around the outside pathways, definitely trip hazards and the external steps up to the hayloft are very steep with loose slabs and need repair. Also I would recommend when it's time to refurbish, that showers are installed instead of baths, climbing into a wet bath is a slip hazard.
Comfortable but lacking in love
We came for a weekend Saturday/Sunday with our two dogs, the room was large and spacious and lovely treats for the dogs. We were told a week before that there was a wedding on so we would not be able to use any facilities at the hotel on the Saturday although it did open for dinner. The restaurant staff were amazing very friendly and helpful and the food was good. For October having to eat in the conservatory because we had dogs did not feel very inviting we asked if we could have our dinner in the library/snug instead and were told no. It was suggested that we park around the back but to walk from the parking area to our room was not easy uneven paving and difficult when wet. It never felt that there was any manager or deputy around to liaise with guests and the feeling we were left with is that it seems to be very much used as a venue hotel rather than for staying guests.
