Satisfactory but room for improvement
We booked a 2 night stay which included breakfast and dinner. Drinks are a bit pricey and cocktails were 15 each. I had the pork belly on the first night but I couldn t eat it as it was too tough. When I told the waitress she offered me a steak knife which I declined. So had to leave it. My husband had the lamb which he enjoyed. Breakfast was a good selection and was enjoyable. The second night I had the burger and hubby stuck with the lamb again as the other choices were not to his taste. I couldn t eat the burger as it was disappointingly very dry. We had hoped on the Saturday night it would have been a different menu but sadly not. Our room was comfortable but I can imagine in the hot weather it would be unbearable as it was not in the main house which I would have preferred. Overall satisfactory but not a wow place. Staff polite and friendly.
OK, but too many issues to be good. Ultimately, needs renovation.
Overall, it was not bad, but I would not go out of my way to go there again.
- Rooms were tatty. Stains and burns vaguely covered up, things peeling, stuff a bit worn.
- Gym was pretty rubbish and unmaintained. Pool OK.
- Reception staff short, to the point of being unfriendly
- Bar shutting at 10:00 was a bit annoying
- Food was a bit mixed. On one day, they had a pianist, which was excellent!
- Restaurant staff were good
- Bed and bedding were actually very good
- Lack of information: almost missed breakfast on the second day, as nobody told us that it finished early due to a wedding. We just happened to ask!
Pleasant
A good stay, it was all inclusive but the allowance for supper only, really, covered a main course! The setting was very countified, but the map of (dog) walks we were given was rather confusing! A good night, the staff were very positive except the man at reception when we got there, who was rather brusque.
