Roaming The Brecks is a remarkably diverse dog walking experience. The word ‘Breck’ is medieval so you can expect an expansive area full of paths winding through natural wonders with different terrain types. The wildlife here was shaped by the soils, climate, and human-use of the land. For example, the landscape has attracted special wildlife like woodlark, stone curlews, and nightjars.

Stone Curlew birds are particularly rare with only 400 breeding pairs in the UK. You’ll find them nesting on the ground, but they are sensitive to any disturbance. Because of this, it’s best to keep dogs on short leads whilst on the Brecks Trail.
