British dog accessories brand Teddy Maximus tell us why they are proud to support British manufacturing…
Inspired by Teddy, a long-haired miniature Dachshund, Teddy Maximus was born. Maximus by name and by nature, if it doesn’t pass the paw of approval from this style conscious hound then you won’t see it!
Teddy Maximus is proud to champion British manufacturing. For us, it stands for quality and represents our core values – to design fun, luxury dog accessories that stand for style and which also have character.
There are so many great reasons to consider buying British – many you may have already considered, others you may not … for us the benefits are clear. For a start, we know how something is being made and the care that goes into each piece. The reality? It is more expensive to produce in the UK, but we know that it’s worth paying more for and we’re delighted that the feedback we’ve had from our shoppers confirm this.
A few weeks back we celebrated London Craft Week – it embodies everything we stand for. We’re proud to work with some of the best talent there is to produce our leather leads, collars, dog beds and apparel. Our craftsmen are paid a fair price and work knowing that they are supported by regulations in the UK.
Did you know that the same Leathersmith makes a Teddy Maximus collar and lead from start to finish? Each piece. Cut, sewn, stitched and stamped with the Teddy Maximus emboss, our own special and unique sign of quality, heritage and craftsmanship. Our Leathersmith Mo even puts his ‘Made with Love’ message inside each one. Our solid brass collar fittings are sourced from a foundry in the UK – our supplier even holds a Royal warrant!
Do you consider your product’s air miles? It may not be something that immediately springs to mind. Our wool fabric comes from a mill in the UK for example and gets sent straight to our factory in Somerset. ‘Made in Britain’ therefore also applies to our materials wherever it is feasible and our production too. Saving on air miles helps to avoid environmental costs too.
And it doesn’t stop there, our carrier straps are cut from quality leather in a London Leatherworks. And guess what? We hand select each leather skin before it’s cut to ensure it’s up to scratch and that you’ll love it!
Our new bespoke personalisation service is carried out by a seamstress in the UK. Each stitch is watched over by someone who ensures your dog’s name looks just perfect. So ‘Made in Britain’ also means we can get more of what you want to you quicker and with a personal touch too.
So now you’ve seen what ‘Made in Britain’ means to us and why we think it’s important – we hope you enjoyed the insight!
