Dog-friendly Penolva has a gorgeous coastal setting between St Mawes Castle and the dog-friendly Hotel Tresanton. The house is one of very few in St Mawes with a water frontage. Its name means “lookout on the Headland” and it really does have the most magnificent uninterrupted 180 degree sea views. Built in the 1960s by yachting enthusiast and friend of the Queen Mother, Dick Wilkins, members of the royal family often visited Wilkins coming ashore from the Royal yacht, Britannia.
