Midweek stay

Both myself & my husband are pensioners & was pleased to be staying in the castle BUT was very Disappointed having to climb a stone spiral stairs to our room. The point staying within the castle was so we didn t have to venture out if it rained for our meals but it would have been easier to have stayed within the courtyard.
The food was overpriced for what you got.

Every visit to the restaurant had issues of one kind or another, dietary requirements were not catered for properly, timings of food delivery and service was erratic at best although the staff were friendly and helpfull

Not as expected

Booking this for our uk honeymoon we expected excellence across the board. The room was nice. Comfortable bed, average seating area but overall clean. The hotel was pretty average nothing luxurious or exceptional which was disappointing. The restaurant was nicely laid out and the staff were helpful. Our dinner was very nice, dessert was delicious however the food was expensive so I expected all to be perfect. Breakfast was a non event for me as after waiting an hour for the hot offering it arrived cold and inedible, the reason was that there was a wedding party in for breakfast. I left without eating as I didn t want to wait any longer. So overall pretty disappointing and we wished we had chosen a different venue for our honeymoon. We went to Whitby for a few nights after and that was perfect.
