A Great 3 Days

It was a wonderful 3 days, where the staff did everything to make this a welcoming and relaxing break. The service was careful and attentive, without being intrusive. There was clearly a great deal of effort that went into making everything near perfect, so that we could honestly say we had a wonderful time.

The only areas I would be slightly critical of was the room, very comfortable and well provided for, but it was very dark and needed some brighter lighting. The second was the food. One pasta meal I enjoyed so much I had it twice. The first time it was perfect, but the second time it was clearly reheated, pasta stuck together and other parts broken up into smaller pieces. Tasted good but poorly presented. More care needed. Despite that, I would stay there again.

Unique hotel

We enjoyed staying at Lumley Castle although our room was in the stable yard not the castle itself. Excellent food and helpful staff. Wine very expensive.

relaxing break

Impressive first sight of the castle, although unclear where to park initially was soon able to locate it. Reception area really atmospheric and staff helpful when checking in. Room in the castle itself was excellent, although later found the coffee maker was faulty and could not use it, the taps in the bath took an age to fill up the bath (although guess this is to be expected for a building of this age), other than that the room was brilliant with a grand 4 poster bed etc. Food in the restaurant was to die for, and the breakfast buffet plentiful and varied with a cooked option too. Location was great, had a lovely walk along the river in the woods, very relaxing and enjoyable will no doubt be back.
