Historic venue
The receptionist at check-in seemed flustered and the restaurant appeared keener to give priority to no-show non-residents to accommodate their unstated policy for 2 sittings for dinner (6.30 pm & 8.15 pm).
The room was cramped but was well fitted out.
A hotel with a difference!
A very unusual place to stay. Without exception the staff were all very helpful, welcoming, and anxious to please.
For such an historic building, the hotel is comfortable, and a very pleasant place to stay. It is particularly well-placed for those wishing to tour Durham, the Northern Dales, and Hadrian's Wall, while enjoying the comforts that such a quality hotel offers.
Things we should have known before visit.
Disappointing stay because room was cold and access too. difficult for husband with Parkinson s Disease. Ordered breakfast in room but on arrival was informed it was not available. This was main reason for booking this hotel.
