Romantic and luxury birthday treat stay
I booked the deal for prosecco, chocolates and an evening meal in a castle state room. Sure it wasn't cheap, but I felt it was well worth it just to see how happy my partner was.
We got room 49, which has a bathroom hidden through the wardrobe! Very Narniaesque and a lovely surprise. The room was plenty big enough and the four poster was gorgeous, comfortable and perfect.
The room had tea / coffee equipment along with a Nespresso machine too.
The provided prosecco and chocolates really added to the luxury.
The evening meal was brilliant, my partner had the beef and it just melted in the mouth. I had the lamb, which was a little tough, but the overall dish was excellent. Desserts were good, but not amazing.
Breakfast was absolutely bang on.
The staff were super friendly, efficient and not stuffy at all.
Bar prices were not as high as I expected, 6.50 for a pint level.
I would definitely return.
No review title
We had an excellent couple of nights and were able to spend time with our grandson who has just started at University. Last time we were staying there was for our sons wedding meal 20 years ago.
Not the best from Off Peak Luxury
Sadly the reception greeting was next to nil told the no of our room and told to go out of first door then up a flight of stairs the go up the spiral stone stairs No offer of help with the cases fortunately for us some workers helped us up the stone spiral stairs Don t think we would have made otherwise Room fine but had to ask for servicing - not done on 3 rd day so no coffee tea ,milk or dry towels for our last day However the restaurant was excellent - food brilliant and great friendly service There was no map of the plan of the inside of the hotel and it was the workmen who told us how to get from bedroom to the restaurant Had to go to reception to ask for help to get cases to our car We are both in our 80 ies and would have appreciated being told when we book how difficult the siting of the bedroom was Have had such wonderful stays with off peak luxury that this was a disappointment

Sorry to hear that you have difficulties with the room allocated.
With older properties and Castle hotels you do tend to find staircases are likely to be steep and some with spiral staircases. It is always advisable to call our agents so that we can call the hotel prior to making a booking to ensure that they have a suitable room available that meets your requirements.
