Luxury
The hotel, overall was lovely. The reception was noisy even though there were only 2 stations open- possibly the low ceilings etc made it echo.
The 2 rooms that we booked were in the main castle but were not similar, one quite clearly of a better standard.
It took three requests to obtain the chocolates that should have been in our room - the bubbly was there.
Our main complaint was when we were told that our dinner booking was for 6:30pm even though I had email confirmation for 8:15pm. The dining room was far from full. We were not able to book breakfast until 9:30am.
Midweek stay
Both myself & my husband are pensioners & was pleased to be staying in the castle BUT was very Disappointed having to climb a stone spiral stairs to our room. The point staying within the castle was so we didn t have to venture out if it rained for our meals but it would have been easier to have stayed within the courtyard.
The food was overpriced for what you got.

The courtyard bedroom No.38 was lovely and a bottle of prosecco and chocolates in room - very much appreciated First nght meal which was a Monday was great with quick service - second night [same menu - would like to have had a different menu] was extremely slow it took over 2.5 hours for two courses although the waiting staff were great Breakfast were excellent Drinks expensive
