Overpriced

Kevin W, North Yorkshire, stayed: November 2021

Nice place to stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very expensive place to eat and drink. We had a package that included breakfast and 30 each for dinner. Most of the main courses on the limited menu are in the 17- 20 range and the fillet steak is 35 on its own! If one of you eats 35 worth of food at dinner and your partner has 20 worth ,you will be charged the extra 5 on your bill when you check out. The drinks are hideously overpriced with a pint of Coors light at 5.55 a large glass of white wine at over 9 the bill soon mounts up! Room was a bit dark and quite small for the price we paid. There is a decent Wetherspoons in town (1.5 miles away) if you can't stomach the bar prices !
Overall we had a good time but would probably not go back because of the bar prices. The staff are very good though and very helpful.

Summary

KF, West Yorkshire, stayed: November 2021

A lovely well maintained castle which no doubt is undertaken at a considerable cost. A lovely winter break location with snug rooms and fires. The property novelty no doubt drives the price which at 200+ per night (for 2) with breakfast and evening meal allowance seemed a little on the high side. The cheapest wine was 28. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The courtyard stateroom was spacious but lacked a heated towel rail and the en-suite was cold with a cold tiled floor. The grounds and location were lovely.

Nice place but billing issues

AT, South Yorkshire, stayed: August 2022

Beautiful hotel very comfortable room. We had some problems with the restaurant and these were not handled well. We were charged for things that we should not have been and are still awaiting a refund. We requested a call back from a manager and that has not happened either. Somewhat disappointed because it was a special birthday celebration which had the shine wiped off.

We say...

Thank you for your review.

We have followed this up with the hotel and they have advised that this matter was dealt swiftly as soon as they were made aware the discount had not been applied and a refund has been processed.

Kind regards,
