Pre Christmas Relaxation
We were fortunate to visit while the hotel had a Christmas craft fayre this gave something extra to do as the weather was not great
We would love to visit again as tge local riverside walk looked like it would allow exploration of the area
We had to remind staff about our Prosecco on 3 occasions which has impacted our rating
Enjoyable stay, but......
We enjoyed our stay at Lumley apart from the service at dinner which had a touch of the Fawlty Towers about it. First the wine didn't arrive and the mains were served. The waitress then apologised and said that the wine was unavailable, to be interrupted by a colleague arriving with the said wine. The mains course was then removed on request and we were able to resume with a glass of wine, bread and herb butter. The rest of the meal was the usual good food and friendly service.
We did, however, request that the 12.5% service charge, which is added to the bill unless removal is requested by the customer, be removed from our bill.

We stayed here for 2night package.
Room was lovely, clean and warm. Bathroom could do with more character to reflect the castle.
Library bar was fabulous and staff very attentive.
Evening dinner and service in knights restaurant was disappointing as had to return food as not warm enough and no table service re another drink!
Breakfast was fabulous just like the staff serving it.
Overall it was ok, nothing special considering the price.
