Adequate hotel. Did not think it was worth 4 stars.
Staff polite and friendly, but lacking experience in some areas. Shown to a table in bar for dinner, but not given a menu. Staff member took our order, didn't write it down and another staf member had to come over and adjust for our order again.Through your site it stated a 2pm checkin, but stay informed this has always been 3pm. Also booked two dinners on your site, but there were no bookings made at the hotel. Food was good quality pub food and breakfast was excellent. I would stay again, but only on a bed and breakfast tarrif.
Rosslea Hall
We felt that the signage for the Hotel was poor, we missed the entrance as there was no arrow, also the name of the hotel is is the least visible on those signs.
Going by the number of guest that were down for breakfast service, the hotel wasn't full and we didn't get the room upgrade, nor was it offered. To be fair, I didn't ask about it either.
The room we got was just ok, can't say anything more about it.
Staff levels seamed pretty low. We had to wait for a while, then ask at reception for a bar person to serve us our complimentary drink.
When I booked, I was asked to select a time for evening dining. When we went down for dinner, it turned out that there was no booking system, just "choose your own table". When we did, there was no crockery, cutlery or condiments.
The food was edible, but standard pub grub level, not what was i was expecting after the way the stay was sold on your web site.
Breakfast service was much better with a fully laid table and a good range of food choices.
Overall, our stay was just ok.
Great service and location
Staff were excellent from the. moment we arrived. Food was average, breakfast though was good. Great location for visiting local tourist spots.

HILLHOUSE
Of the elegant architecture that encapsulates Helensburgh, Hillhouse is certainly one of the most well-known. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1902, the house offers a timeless elegance. The gardens have been restored to their former glory, and reflect the innovative architectural features common in Mackintosh creations. The exhibition in the upper east wing pays further homage to Mackintosh's avant garde designs and to those of his wife Margaret Macdonald, who contributed numerous fabrics seen in around the house. Entrance is free for National Trust Scotland Visitors.

HIGHLAND GAMES
For those seeking a truly Scottish experience during their stay; the Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games take place in early June. This level of athleticism is hard work, so there are a wide variety of food and drink stalls to refuel. A kid's marquee, coconut shy and haggis throw is more than enough to entertain even the fussiest of children.
