Excellent one night stay at this charming hotel

Hazel, Derbyshire, stayed: April 2025

We loved everything about this hotel, particularly the picturesque location and fabulous rooms. The staff in general were very helpful, courteous and obviously enjoyed their job, particularly the restaurant staff. The exception being the young man who showed us to our room which was over the road. He was rather brusque and didn t offer to help us with our luggage despite us obviously being elderly. But other than that we very much enjoyed our stay.

nice hotel but a bit more attention to detail would have made the stay memorable

William, Derbyshire, stayed: April 2025

we booked a twin room, but got a king size double bed. When showing our reservation (with the twin room clearly stated) we were told, we should have mentioned this fact beforehand.
Part of the booking was a welcome drink, which wasn't offered and we had to request it.
The table in the restaurant was booked for 18:30. We were told it was 19:00. But we could change this easily to our original time. The food was good and tasty but very expensive.
Breakfast was a bit sparse and the selection of any other items than a full English very limited.
I took the last Danish Pasty and they didn't bring out any more. Nobody asked if we would like more coffee. It is a bit awkward to ask all the time if there is more... But the poached eggs on Sourdough were very nice.
