Two night stay for an anniversary
We enjoyed a two night stay as it is an area we have not visited much before and was near to Hardwick Hall - which was an excellent day out. We enjoyed visiting the Rother Valley country park and Wentworth Historic gardens on our way down. It was in easy walking distance of an excellent craft bar in Mosborough. The food at the hotel restaurant was very good but we were the only diners - so that was very disappointing as there was no atmosphere. We therefore went out locally the second night, despite the offer we had paid for which said that if we ate in we could have a free bottle of wine. The breakfasts were very good - no buffet on the first morning as not enough people so we ordered from the menu. The waitress was excellent. The second morning we wanted to order from the menu to have one of the specialist egg dishes but as there were more people dining it was buffet only - again very disappointing. We should have been told about that on the first day. We had hoped to have a room in the old part of the hotel as we had booked our stay on purpose to be in a historic venue. The staff member said she could offer another room and we looked at it, but it was quite small so we stayed with our original booking which was a good room but no different from many hotels being modern. The overall experience was very good but not quite as good as we had expected although the reception team and all staff were lovely.
A Happy Discovery
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for only one night but we found it an enjoyable experience. The fan in the bathroom was not working. Had it been working, I would have given another excellent. Otherwise, the room was large and comfortable and quiet but what really made this hotel a pleasure in my opinion was the staff. Reception, bar and restaurant staff were not just efficient. They were also warm and friendly and ready to go the extra mile. They deserve full marks and could give lessons.
3 day stay with family
Staff are excellent especially the restaurant staff and bar staff, food at night and at breakfast was of a good standard. Room was good but but not easy to access with luggage and children and the view and disturbance from the kitchen and bin area below was not the best.
Hotel and facilities are good, good location for exploring , value for money.
