Magical adventure
From the moment we set eyes on this beautiful hotel in its stunning location we knew we were in for a treat that was a truly wonderful escape from the everyday. The staff are just brilliant. The food is some of the best we have ever tasted- especially exquisite taster menu in the ballroom with matching wine flight . We had a dip in the beautiful mermaid pool, strolled along the rock pool covered beaches and watched the tide come in to cut off the island from the mainland. Pure magic from start to finish!

Wonderful stay at Burgh Island with just a couple of minor niggles
Having had our holiday postponed due to lockdown, it was wonderful to finally be able to stay. Everything we would have expected of a luxury hotel break with excellent service, attentive staff and superb food. Just a couple of minor points that slightly took the edge off though. We booked a luxury package with Country Hotel Breaks. This included a complimentary upgrade if available and dinner on one night. When we arrived, there was no mention of the upgrade - we had been allocated a room. We asked and were told that 'there had been a cancellation' so we could upgrade but it would have been nice if we hadn't had to ask. The room was nice with original furniture but was a bit 'tired' with paint peeling off the bathoom walls and a window that could not be opened - there was a sign telling us not to try! We were told that the included dinner was the 7 course tasting menu on day 2. However, when we were sitting in the bar before dinner, the waitress came up to us and told us that our package only allowed 5 of the courses. If we wanted the full 7 courses then we would have to pay extra. How embarassing! We had no idea that this was the case and it should have been explained either when we arrived to give us options or made clear by Country Hotel Breaks. Apart from this we had a lovely time.
