Ideal for a relaxing weekend
Staff, I have to start here, the staff all of them were lovely and could not do enough for us, and when you are only there for a night or two it is nice to have that feeling of great service. This hotel was perfect if you intend to just relax, a drink on the terrace looking over the lake, with a small walk around the lovely gardens. The restaurant provided another lovely view of the lake district (just get there early to get a table next to the windows, for the full experience). We parked at the hotel and got the bus to Pooley Bridge (10 minutes) which was lovely for a wander and nice lunch. One thing though I will say is, we went on a dinner B&B and this was good value, I thought the a la carte, was a little expensive.
Charming Hotel
Leeming House Hotel is a charming and grand building in a beautiful location.
On arrival we were greeted by a polite and very helpful receptionist, we continued to experience the same welcoming treatment from all members of staff throughout our stay which made the weekend all the more special.
The view from our bedroom window was spectacular!! And the bed was very comfortable, we felt like royalty.
However on closer inspection I noticed lots of signs of neglect and poor maintenance, picture frames thick with dust, balcony railings were falling apart, paint peeling off woodwork and a general shabbiness and dated feel about the decor.
What this hotel needs is a sympathetic restoration without a full makeover to retain its charm, some antique furniture, a lick of paint and a few paintings on the walls in the communal arias for example, would make a world of difference.
Perfect Location
We thoroughly enjoyed are stay (sadly only 2 nights). Staff and restaurant excellent. Only quibble was the room, although a very generous size, super quality bed, glass bottled water (it does annoy me when nice hotels have plastic bottles of water), It was a little dated (could improve tea/coffee products and upgrade TVs and needed some TLC (I did report a couple of things and this was rectified immediately and this is all you can ask for-so thank you).
Would I stay here again-absolutely, the grounds are beautiful, the snug room s beautiful and no TVs so very relaxing. PS, if you like black pudding! this is the place for you!
