An enjoyable break
It has a very busy reception area as people have to walk past to go to the dining areas. It was rather crowded when we arrived and no doorman to help us with our luggage. It would be good if they had a designated spot for dropping off luggage etc instead of having to park on double yellow lines to drop off bags. The car park was not attached to the building. The food was great, the sitting areas were very relaxing and the spa was great. Disappointed that we could not use the balance of our buy a gift voucher towards food or spa. We are now left with a balance of £40 on our voucher which we are unlikely to use.
40th wedding anniversary married 11th September 1976
We gave good, for room would have been excellent, as we arrived later than checking in time, shown to the room and Champagne waiting, the bed was made but not clean sheets, and the bathroom had not been done, staff very apologetic, but they soon sorted out the problem.
Birthday Break at The Swan Lavenham
A lovely hotel, full of character with parts of the building dating back to 15c. Imaginatively extended with lovely dining room full of oak beams. Took us some time to navigate to our room due to the winding corridors etc.
Staff are great, really welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfasts. Stayed 4 nights and got fed up with the same evening menu, this was good but after 4 evenings a tad repetitive!
Had an afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday; really good - couldn't manage to eat it all!
Lavenham is a lovely village and well worth a visit, lots of really old c1500 buildings to admire and excellent coffee and antique shops.
