Beautiful Hotel

The Swan is a beautiful historic building which is well maintained. The atmosphere is one of luxury - nothing has that 'tired' look you find in some hotels. Service is excellent. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere - great for a relaxing break.

Didn t Meet Expectations

This was a special anniversary gift from our family which were disappointed with. From the descriptions of the venue we expected a nicer experience than we had. The bedroom was comfortable but en-suite access and facilities were below standard. Although the evening dinner was well presented and enjoyable the menu choice was quite limited. Breakfast had a good choice but we felt rushed when the cooked course was served whilst still eating our cereals.
On a positive note the hotel were very obliging when we had to cancel at the last minute due to illness but accommodated us to re-book at no extra cost. This kind gesture is most appreciated.
However overall we felt the venue was not value for money.

Surrounded by history

The Swan is a wonderful evocation of its history and that of Lavenham and its surrounding area. The gardens are well maintained and the spa is handy. We found the food generally to be of good quality and the menu was interesting. However, we felt it was a bit overpriced and we did see two people send food back. Another complained that there food was cold. We did not experience that. The toilet in our bathroom required a knack that we had to learn to get it to flush. We were offered another room but chose to stay where we were. It did appear that the problem was known and should have been pointed out. As it was we had to contact reception. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall, we would be delighted to stay again.
