Lovely hotel in a lovely town
Nothing to fault about this hotel. Great staff, lovely room and quality food in a stunning location. We will return.
Birthday treat
Our room was very comfortable although not as luxurious as expected. We were at the front which at times was noisy. The bathroom although a reasonable size had a very tatty curtain at the window giving it a tired look. The food was overall very good but the service at times was very slow.
A delightful hotel in a stunning location
A wonderful mediaeval building in a glorious Suffolk village which boasts over 300 listed buildings. The age of the building means that there are uneven floors and low beams, but these add to the charm of the place. The public areas are welcoming with plenty of sofas and chairs and log fires. The bedroom was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The food in the spacious restaurant was excellent and the service was courteous, although a little on the slow side at times. The reception staff were friendly and helpful - we reported a problem with the bathroom tap and this was rectified promptly.
The hotel provided a Covid-safe environment, but this meant that, after dinner, all the log fires were extinguished, destroying the ambience of the lounges, and everyone had to return to their rooms by 10pm. This was a major disappointment after such a beautiful meal, although obviously beyond the control of the hotel.
