Good hotel excellent food room was small and shower was over the bath which is not easy for older
Guests however overall a pleasant stay.
Surrounded by history
The Swan is a wonderful evocation of its history and that of Lavenham and its surrounding area. The gardens are well maintained and the spa is handy. We found the food generally to be of good quality and the menu was interesting. However, we felt it was a bit overpriced and we did see two people send food back. Another complained that there food was cold. We did not experience that. The toilet in our bathroom required a knack that we had to learn to get it to flush. We were offered another room but chose to stay where we were. It did appear that the problem was known and should have been pointed out. As it was we had to contact reception. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall, we would be delighted to stay again.
Certainly great for a Suffolk break
The Swan, Lavenham is somewhere I had always wanted to stay and the Offpeak offer for two nights with extra treats made that possible. Otherwise I would comment that it is somewhat on the expensive side.
A hotel with character in a beautiful location with ease to explore other parts of Suffolk. If there is a criticism it would be in respect of the dinners. The food veers towards "nouvelle cuisine" and on the first night in particular the dinner was neither well cooked or hot.
