The Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa

A break away from Christmas madness

We stayed at the Swan between Christmas and New Year for a relaxing few days in order to chill out and read books so it was perfect for that. Beautiful old hotel with wooden beams. The rooms are a little small but well furnished. Our booking included breakfast (full service, no helping yourself to a buffet here, so thankfully no visions of people stockpiling their plates! ) and dinner - which was a bit more variable (ok one night, very good the next) with an extensive wine list ranging across a wide price range. Still possible to get some very nice wine for a reasonable price though. The spa is wonderful - we did not try the outdoor heated pool though - it was December after all.
Overall a very nice stay in a comfortable hotel with a lovely spa.

Excellent hotel

We enjoyed our stay there. Our room on the 1st floor was very nice, but I feel that on a hot night one fan would not be enough. We enjoyed a drink after our dinner which was very nice also, and though it was not late (10.30pm) we were the only ones drinking and felt that they were closing for the night, and decided to go to bed. Breakfast was nice, nothing special, I have had better.  We will return again at some point to explore the area more.

2 night break at The Swan, Lavenham

Really enjoyed our short visit in great weather for mid-Feb.  Hotel very comfortable, especially lounges & bar. Bedroom comfortable with old style beams & fireplace & steps into bathroom (which was cold : only small towel rail for warmth). Location of bedroom meant traffic noise.  Excellent secluded garden to rear. Small car park on site with larger one across main road.  Restaurant was spacious and well appointed. Excellent service. Quality of food at dinner was poorer than expected for this hotel: similarly breakfast. Apart from one change the dinner menu was the same both nights.
