Fabulous historic hotel with wonderful staff
What a stunning hotel, lots of lovely places with to sit quietly and enjoy. We particularly enjoyed the inner garden that only residents use- blissful place to read and reflect on the day. Our room (Heritage room) was very well appointed, very comfortable bed and lovely modern bathroom. I found the staff very smiley and friendly yet professional. I wouldn t hesitate to recommend this stunning historic hotel or to stay again. My only criticism would be some of the food (we ate in house all 3 nights) didn t quite live up to its reputation. Attention to detail could be a bit hit and miss (eg thick slices of raw chillis on breakfast or a vegetable side dish simply meant you had to remove me et of them and finely chop the rest yourself-and I normally love chillis!) and some dishes had very modest portions especially for the prices, but, I believe there has been a change of chef so this could be a settling in changeover spell. Our cream tea in a stylish lounge area was delicious and the afternoon teas served in the stunning main dining room looked wonderful.
All in all, a beautiful hotel in a beautiful town, we will return.

Great break
We enjoyed a two night break at The Swan. It was wonderful from the moment we walked through the front door. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, our room, facilities and the food in the Gallery Restaurant were all wonderful. Thank uou all so much.
