The Eastbury Hotel and Spa

Disappointing

A combination of many small things let s this place down, I would rate it more 3 star certainly not 5! On arrival they couldn t find our room key for a couple of hours and the receptionist seemed a bit spaced out! Dinner wasn t great, bar wasn t able to serve my preferred cocktail, not in the list even though on the menu on line (White Russian). On leaving tried to charge me twice, had to pay extra for dinner even though the deal was 37 per head and we had bloody fish and chips! I recommend Premier Inn, better experience. Room was nice though!

Vacation 2020

Overall the hotel was nice and the garden was relaxing and good. On initial entering the room, the bathroom shower tray and floor clearly had not been cleaned thoroughly. I had to clean the tray, floors and other surfaces in the bathroom. There was visibly lots of dust and hairs from previous occupants. We would have expected this to have been done properly prior to us checking in. The hotel did not have heating hence there was no means to dry towels. Therefore we had ask for dry towels every day. Twice on breakfast we had to ask for new cutlery as there was dry food on them. Once we were served a cup which had lipstick on it and once we had to return the coffee because it tasted of washing detergent. We had expected more and better standards from this hotel which is promoted as a luxury hotel. On a positive side, the dinners we had were good.

Disappointing

I do not usually focus on the negative but its probably because expectations were high and the reality was disappointing. The" Luxury Double Room" was down a dingy corridor, no better than a very ordinary double with a pokey cheaply equipped shower room. The continuous pop and gurgle from an exhaust vent outside the window did not help. On arrival expecting to have dinner booked as part of the reservation was advised that restaurant was fully booked but "we could go on a waiting list". After some protest we did get one meal , not special, but were excluded for further days evening meals as there was no availability. The hotel itself was alright with most of the staff being helpful if a little overly sincere. However, in my opinion its nearer three star than five. Good location
