Excellent stay
The hotel location was ideal, close to the town yet quiet.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Our sons bought us a tasting menu with wine flight for our 51st anniversary, this was delicious, beautifully presented and complimented
All Covid restrictions were adhered to by the staff, spotlessly clean rooms and restaurant.
I gave the room (Bluebell) a good rather than excellent as at 75 and 77 iwe found it
a steep climb up the windy stairs. .
I would highly recommend this hotel and certainly stay for our 52nd anniversary!!!

Disappointing
A combination of many small things let s this place down, I would rate it more 3 star certainly not 5! On arrival they couldn t find our room key for a couple of hours and the receptionist seemed a bit spaced out! Dinner wasn t great, bar wasn t able to serve my preferred cocktail, not in the list even though on the menu on line (White Russian). On leaving tried to charge me twice, had to pay extra for dinner even though the deal was 37 per head and we had bloody fish and chips! I recommend Premier Inn, better experience. Room was nice though!

Thank you for taking the time to review us, I am sorry to hear that your stay was less than 5 star service. The communication between our staff has since improved as we did have a few different new members join our team who were training during September. I was unaware that the cocktail menu needed updating on our website, thank you for advising us. I am sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner with us, with regards to the allocation, we always have a break down of what was charged to your account. Please do contact us and we can look into this to make sure your allocation was correct and that the charge of £19 you paid as extra for dinner is correct and not a mistake on our part.

Poor
Hotel was ok, service was ok, room was not cleaned at all due to COVID 19, bin was not even emptied and thus was awful. Food in restaurant was ok however the staff were kids so we waited an age for a drink in the morning, the service was so poor I had to go to the kitchen after 45 minutes and ask for a cup of tea.

How to get here
Sherborne has a central location with good road and rail links between London and the South West – by road on the A303 and M5 and by rail on the main London Waterloo line. Sherborne is also midway between both Bournemouth / Poole and Bristol / Bath.
By car: Once in Sherborne, follow the A30 towards Shaftesbury. Pass the Fire Station on your right, then take the first right into North Road. At the crossroads go straight over and into St Swithin's Road. At the bottom turn left onto Long Street and The Eastbury is immediately on the right.
There is a private car park behind the hotel. To find the car park drive past the hotel with it on your right and then turn right into East Mill Lane, turn right again in front of Sherborne Business Centre and follow the lane around to the back of the hotel. You can walk up the garden path to reception from the car park.
By rail Sherborne train station is 5-10 minutes' walk from the hotel or just a few minutes by taxi. Please call or email the hotel Reception to pre-arrange a taxi pick-up. As the ancient capital of Dorset, Sherborne is rich in history and culture and The Eastbury Hotel is conveniently located just a short stroll from the town centre.
The lovely winding high street has all sorts on offer from boutique fashions through to fine art and antiques. Of particular note is the medieval Abbey set in a commanding position right in the centre of the town. Sherborne Castle and the medieval ruins of Sherborne Old Castle are located just to the East.
For walkers and cyclists there's a multitude of stunning local trails including the North Dorset Trailway and routes through the Blackmore Vale and the Dorset Downs with many conservation areas and sites of special interest. A little further afield is Dorset's famous Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site, and just under an hour by car.
