Luxurious stay
Really enjoyed our one night break The room and bathroom were super luxurious The food at dinner was magnificent
The only tiny downside was no seating at reception for elderly visitors no toilets close to restaurants disappointing breakfast cold plate and no ala catre choice I would have paid excess like with dinner
These small disappointments did not spoil a fabulous luxurious stay and we will be back
A lovely stay
Imposing establishment, beautiful grounds complete with pheasants roaming in the morning, good food, excellent service with pleasant and caring staff. Recommended...
Brilliant time right up until a dispute paying the bill
We had a wonderful stay at wooton house, the suite we had was lovely and everything was perfect. Room was a little warm so had to have window open, we were provided with a fan but it wasn't very good. The bar area was lovely including the garden area we were lucky with the weather so able to sit outside. Grounds beautiful, steep in places so if you have mobilty issues be aware. The evening meal we had was lovely , food was great as was breakfast as there was a good selection. The only letdown to our stay was when it came to paying the bill. The previous night in the restaurant service was a bit slow and we were forgotten about a few times including when I asked for the bill. I reminded the girl who served us who apologised and eventually brought it to the table. I was told it would be charged to the room and I would need to sign the receipt which had a value if 119 exactly. I signed and went off to bed. When checking out the next say the bill had gone up for dinner by 10. The young man on reception got the copy of the receipt from dinner and to my astonishment the value was 10 higher but it wasn't my signature or writing on the receipt ! It turns out the girl who served us forgot to add on items to the bill, rather than coming to find me in my room and explain she ripped up the reciept and printed a new one off and then forged my signature and writing ! I explained this was not the bill I signed, thankfully they also had a copy of receipt from a separate bar bill, they were reluctant to agree it was different but as a "gesture of goodwill" they would wave the 10 as it would take them too long to try and find out what happend. I was utterly shocked and appalled by the attitudes and how the matter was dealt with. If someone would of come to the room to explain the situation I would of paid the 10 because we did what was on the receipt but to try and hide the issue by forging a signature is just appalling. Whilst I appreciate the 10 was taken off my objection was to the issue being brushed under the carpet. I felt like we were causing a problem that they didn't want others to hear about as reception was busy. We also overheard another couple challenging their bill and being charged for things they didn't have. So be aware, check your bills and if you can pay as you go do not charge to the room !
