Loverly building, great restaurant but really poor rooms and facilities.
Stayed here for my wife s birthday and was very disappointed. Booked a suite which we didn t stay in as had a drain problem which was being masked by a terrible smelling air freshener. It also hadn t been cleaned or looked after with water marks, stains, mould and paint chipping all over. Moved to another room which was very basic for the money and certainly not a suite although the hotel staff said it was the same category. Pool was very small and packed. Restaurant was lovely though.

Beautiful setting of house and gardens. Room very spacious / comfortable and bathroom very modern as room had just been renovated. Need to get the hang of locking/opening the room door.
My overall comment was a lack of attention to detail in certain places- tea etc facilities was found in the cupboard, kettle electric lead very short, fan/heater needed new batteries, a wall picture would have improved the large room, access to the spa/gym was unnecessary complicated via website whereas for guests a simple code would have been simpler as we had to cancel a credit card and reorder another one in case it became cloned although this did not happen to another guest checking in at the same time. Dinner menu was ok but nothing special. Breakfast was good. It is dog friendly but thought the price for 4 legged friends, had we brought one, on the high side .
It seemed geared up more for weddings- very special location and conferences. The house was extremely well decorated for Christmas. Nice to see.
A lovely Italian lady at Reception was a delight who went out of her way to sort out certain issues.
The cost was an offer which was fine in a lovely setting but small things could make it even more memorable.
