Rare weekend away

GS, Kent, stayed: October 2025

So on arrival we checked in , no complimentary room upgrade as per our package ( it wasn't guaranteed), there was a wedding on so it was busy, heard some noise outside reception which was one of the guests from the wedding we assumed being arrested by the police!, we had booked restaurant, on arrival we was taken to our table, asked if it was ok, we said no, could we sit away from the doors as very noisy , was told no as the other tables we could see empty were allocated for other guests
, we asked if other guests knew where they were sitting the lady so no ,( no one else sat there all night), then went to bed, my wife was kept awake by a party in the room next door, eventually she had enough a rang reception and the noise did die down, it shouldn't have took us to ring, staff must have known, next day the lady on reception who was very nice changed us to a different room on a upper level,so on what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away ended up being exhausting and stressful, on the plus side breakfast was good, staff there was nice and friendly
Leisure facilities are good, staff there also very nice.
With rooms we had were ok, although the 2nd rooms shower was very tight to get into!
I know venues when weddings etc are on get busy but hotels should be staffed to cope otherwise they shouldn't do it, the restaurant was very understaffed on the Friday night.
The hotel is in a lovely setting and should be a lovely get away but we had a not so good experience.

Underwhelming

Paul M, stayed: October 2025

Beautiful location superb gardens with easy parking, we were promised an upgrade however it was not possible as the hotel was rammed with guests. Poor communication from some of the staff with waiting of over an hour for our main course in the restaurant, sadly looking around the restaurant this was happening with other guests as well. The room was nice but very small with issues in the bathroom no robe for the spa, regarding the spa it s really a swimming pool open to the public and their children with no beds to recline on. No smart tv in the room. Probably will not do a return visit.

One night stay

Anon, stayed: October 2025

Overall a lovely experience. The staff were all friendly. The building and grounds were beautiful, well kept and clean. Breakfast was fairly average although the coffee machine was very good. The restaurant was rather busy which meant service was rather slow or short on staff but the staff were very helpful and apologetic. The food was good but a little overpriced for some dishes. Wine menus a little on the pricier end which I would expect at a 5 star facility not a 4 star. The spa and gym were good as all the equipment was in good working order. Our room was also very nice and spacious.
