Has to be the 400 acres of a private estate for your pooch to explore! They'll even have access to sniff around Bassenthwaite Lake, one of the largest lakes in the National Park.
There are a number of dog-friendly ground floor rooms with easy access to the gardens. All bedrooms have lovely lake views, Egyptian cotton bed linen, TV with Sky channels, hairdryer, trouser press, tea & coffee making facilities, bathrobes and slippers and fresh fruit on arrival. All furry guests will receive a dog bed with a comfy cushion, dog treats and waste bags on arrival. There is even a doggie hairdryer available!

Will be back......
We were married at this hotel ten years ago and have returned probably twice or thrice a year afterwards. It is our most favourite place in the world, the setting is fantastic, staff very attentive, superb and fabulous spa.
We have noticed a relaxation in the dress code for the Mao restaurant which we feel is a pity as part of our enjoyment is to dress for a sign of the times!
Also the hotel could do with a spruce up, its beginning to look tired in main areas particularly the Lake room where the mirrors in there and in the dining room were dirty and we did point that out to the staff however we were there for two nights and nothing had been done while we were there.
None of this will prevent us from returning however, I hope this review might be helpful to the owners from very longstanding guests, we have been coming there for at least 30 years.
Armathwaite for two again.
We have stayed many times over the years since the 1990s when we used to bring our dog. We enjoyed our stay and received our free upgrade but there were some problems with the room - No blinds on the bathroom window, no safe, rather dark, no fridge/mini bar, iron pillows though we managed to get a couple replaced for the second night. Otherwise very good.
Great hotel, Superb location, excellent rooms, Avoid the gourmet restaurant,
Object strongly to paying 2% when paying with a debit card nearly did not proceed with the booking. Gourmet restaurant fillet of beef was only 2" across, the potato croquette was larger than the beef fillet. Misrepresentation! Should have been labelled potato croquette with some vegetables and small fillet of beef. Would not use the gourmet restaurant again.

Situated within the Lake District National Park, there are miles and miles of country and fell walks for you and your best furry friend to enjoy. Walk around the lakes and tarns, have a sniff around the hotel grounds, bike through Whinlatter Forest and breathe in that salty air along Solway coast. If you have time, The Cat Bells & Lakeshore is well worth a visit with your furry family members. Enjoy the stunning views and an absolutely wonderful walk for everyone visiting Keswick. You can also follow this up with an amazing lunch at the equally fabulous The Chalet at Portinscale!
