About this property

Surrounded by golden beaches and silver seas sit the dog-friendly Burgh Island Hotel in Devon, an iconic landmark on its own tidal island. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property overlooks Bigbury-on-Sea and the beach, dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters. Built in 1929, extended in 1932 and now faithfully restored to its former Art Deco glory, you’ll experience a glamorous step back in time in a fabulous retreat like no other. Exuding class and sophistication, Burgh Island Hotel offers guests a truly unique stay and was once the go-to party pad for Noel Coward and Agatha Christie. Separated from the mainland by a beautiful sandy tidal beach, Burgh Island is accessible on foot or by the hotel's own Land Rovers across the beach at low tide or by the unique sea tractor – the only one in the world – when the tide is high. Wander across the 26 acres of land with your canine companion or take a dip in the mermaid pool for a refreshing and invigorating experience.

Dine with Your Dog

Throw on your most glamorous outfit (Black tie and evening dress) and experience something truly special in the Ballroom. The menu is changed seasonally, using only the finest in local produce and the chef’s pride themselves on their eco-friendly ethos, sourcing 80% of their ingredients within a 30-mile radius and using the best local seafood and free-range meat. Live music is performed on Wednesday and Saturday and you are invited, but not compelled, to venture onto The Ballroom dance floor to enjoy some romance on the outside dance floor, under the stars. For a less formal evening, try the Captain’s Club or the Ganges Restaurant where the dress code is smart and the food is utterly divine. For a completely relaxed meal with your furry friend head to Pilchard Inn and try their brand new food menu or join famous Friday Curry nights. Your canine companion may join you for a meal only in Pilchard Inn, your room or on the outdoor terrace in warm weather.

Bow wow factor
