Spring Break

SK, Cumbria, stayed: April 2024

This was our first time to stay at Cragwood Country House, and we would definitely stay again. I loved that the Arts and Crafts part of the house still remained of its era, but had been sympathetically updated to retain the character. To see this was one of my main reasons for choosing Cragwood and I was not disappointed. The only, and I mean only, thing I would mention is that the standing space of the bathroom in our lovely room in the old part of the hotel was tiny. My husband had to leave the door open so that he could lift his arms to use and basin and dry himself from the shower!! Our bathroom and the one in the next room were behind our headboard and no soundproofing had been used in the conversion. I know it is difficult to adapt large rooms in old houses for modern use, but I am sure I will not be the only person to comment on this who stays in the room. However one adapts and finds ways round it. it is only a very small part of the stay!!

Wonderful setting and location. Food good, but didn't really cater for Gluten free considering the standard portrayed of restaurant. Service lacking throughout stay, had to keep following up with staff.

Stay at Cragwood country house Aug 2023

RS, West Yorkshire, stayed: August 2023

This was our second visit to Cragwood country House. We enjoyed our stay and it was relaxing break. However, there were a couple of points which I think would improve the good rating to excellent. The room we stayed in was generally very spacious and the view of the lake were spectacular. However, the bathroom was very very small. My husband is 6 2 and this was particularly difficult manoeuvre!
The other point was that we stayed for two nights and were after we returned from the first day out that rooms were not made up only if you were staying longer and made up after the third day. Whilst I appreciate that we need to look after the environment ( which i fully support) i found it difficult to understand why beds were not made up and trash emptied.
This wasn t a major thing but like I said stopped this being a excellent rating. The food was excellent as was the service of the staff who worked extremely hard
