About this property

Nestled between Southwold and Aldeburgh, dog-friendly The Ship at Dunwich in Suffolk is set in a quiet, idyllic village surrounded by nature reserves, heathland and beach. Once a haunt of smugglers, The Ship now provides the perfect place to eat, drink, relax and get away from it all; with real ales, real, home-cooked food and a real fire for your dog to curl up by after a long walk. For food-loving sun-seekers, take a seat amongst the cluster of fruit trees in our spacious beer garden or in the sheltered courtyard for some of the best al fresco dining on the Suffolk coast. The year-round dog-friendly Dunwich beach is just a few minutes walk away, and numerous woodland and wild coastline walks are at your doorstep – the perfect ingredients for a tail-waggingly good getaway!

With 16 individually and newly styled and decorated en suite rooms that reflect the properties period features, the Ship provides the best escape for a short break on the Suffolk Coast.

Their 'Best' rooms are all large bedrooms and are ideal if you want some extra space during your stay. The Marsh view Rooms add an extra something special with breath-taking views stretching over Dingle marshes towards always dog-friendly Walberswick beach, where dogs are always welcome.

Dine with Your Dog

Your pet is welcome to dine with you in the cosy bar, conservatory and breakfast room. Homemade, reasonably priced and traditional in flavour – there is plenty for you and your pet to enjoy at The Ship's cosy bar and restaurant. Classic favourites such as pie of the day, slow-cooked pork belly and sticky toffee pudding grace the menu, with a list of good wines and proper ales to match. The bright conservatory and spacious garden are lovely for every occasion. Or you can leave your dog in the room should you prefer.

Bow wow factor

Water and dog biscuits will be provided for your pet, and the enormous garden is great for walking and playing.
