Second Stay
We ve stayed at St Michael s once before, back in April 2019. Obviously due to the on going situation a lot has changed at the hotel however they ve managed to keep everything as similar as possible. Check in was done online the day before and keys were collected upon arrival, making the process very quick.
As part of our deal we had a beachfront room with balcony or sun terrace, this turned out not to be a beachfront room as there is building work going on in front of the hotel. The view was then just of the building site. However, now checking the website the names of the room have now been changed post our visit. The rooms are nice, modern and spacious however could do with a spruce up.
We visited the restaurant the first evening and both very much enjoyed our meals however it s a limited menu with no choice of specials.
The first morning we had room service breakfast before heading to the spa, the sandwiches were lovely, the bread was delicious, not everything we ordered arrived but we were both still full and satisfied with what we got. The second morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast, they don t do speciality coffees in the morning unfortunately but it s understandable as it would take them too long, breakfast was lovely.
The spa was lovely as usual however steam rooms and sauna were shut but was told they were due to reopen at the end of the month.
On the Saturday we went for afternoon tea which was lovely!
Overall we had a great stay and really enjoyed our relaxing weekend which is what we went for.
Probably wouldn t stay again due to the new building being put in the way of the view, kind of spoils the beach experience we had the previous year. There is similar hotels in the area which now have better views and are cheaper. It s a shame because the hotel is lovely.
Perfect escape
Fabulous two day break. Cracking hotel with lovely staff, happy days:) Would highly recommend this hotel and Falmouth if you are looking for a short break in the West Country.
They even returned my laptop after I left it behind. Lovely place and lovely people
Disappointing
Despite having stated in your booking that the room would have a sea view we were allocated a small back room with no sea view. The staff at the reception desk claimed they did not know that our booking with you stated a sea view. Having complained we were shown a second room with some sea view which smelt damp and was totally unacceptable for a six night stay. Eventually we were given a more spacious room with sea view. This was not a good beginning to our stay.
Generally there seemed to be little overall organisation - service was at best hit and miss.
On two nights there was no bar food available - there did not seem to be a separate lounge menu. it seemed as though the kitchen could not cope with the numbers staying.
We were initially charged for our daily newspaper despite the package with you stating that this was complimentary.
Certainly not a luxurious hotel.
