🎈 Happy Birthday to your pooch! 🎈
To make their day even happier, why not go above and beyond by showing your best furry friend just how much you love them? From wacky themed parties to dog-friendly birthday cakes, here are some super fun ways for you to celebrate your dog’s special day. It’s all the doggie b’day inspo you need!
1. Get them the pawfect gift
What’s a birthday without a present or two? If your dog has a favourite toy, whether it be a Kong, chew toy or maybe even a tennis ball, why not get them a new one? Better still, head to the local pet store or have a browse online and pick them out something fun. Our friends over at Sophie Allport have some fantastic doggie toys, ranging from rope toys to cute stuffed animals and bones.
Alternatively, make them your very own homemade dog toy!
To add to the excitement, you could even let your dog unwrap/tear open the present themsleves. If your pooch isn’t used to unwraping present this way, it’s probably wise to put the present in a gift bag just to make things a little easier.
2. Make them birthday pupcakes
What better way to spoil your best furry friend than with a delicious birthday cake?… Made with a dog-friendly recipe of course! All you need is some everyday baking ingredients such as flour, eggs, baking soda, some peanut butter and fruit, and you can bake up a lovely birthday cake that both you and Fido can enjoy.

3. Take them on a day trip
Our pups love to explore new places, so why not take them somewhere you would’t usually go? If the weather’s nice, you could visit a nearby beach or country park and let your pooch run wild. If you’re going with the family, make a day of it and take a picnic! In the winter months, get your whellies on and go for a leisurely stroll in the countryside, or maybe visit a local landmark – just make sure it’s dog-friendly!
4. Have a doggie birthday party!
Pawty time! Hound or human, no birthday is complete without a party. All you need is a theme, fun outfits/hats, some doggie snacks, games, guests, and of course, a cake. You could even invite their furry friends and their humans over for an afternoon of canine shenanigans.
Stuck on what theme to go with? Here’s some inspiration…
- Tropical – go exotic and take your furry friends to Hawaii! Think colour decorations, funky shirts and a cute Lei for your tropical pooch.
- Flamingo – the perfect excuse to go all-pink everything! From pink decorations to party hats and cute flamingo bandanas, the possibilities are endless!
- English Tea Party – quintessential English canine-chic. Hosted either inside or outside a la Alice in Wonderland, your pampered pooch can indulge in some dog-friendly cakes and biscuits, whilst humans can enjoy some delicious sandwiches.
- DIY – get creative and make your very own decorations and hats. Anything goes! Or go one step further and create a personliased dog birthday shirt or bandana.
5. Play their favourite games
As we all know, dogs absolutely love to play. Make their special day extra fun by playing a series of doggie games! Whether it’s a classic game of fetch, hide and seek, tug of war or find the toy, a little extra play time is one of the best gifts you can give your best furry friend on their birthday.
Here are some fun game ideas you can play to keep your dog entertained.
6. Have a doggie movie night
You don’t always have to do something lavish and extravagent to show your pooch how you love them. Sometimes our company is simply enough! And what better way to spend some quality time together than by snuggling up together on the sofa to watch a film? Grab a blanket, some popcorn, and maybe a few doggie treats and settle in for a night of Petlix ‘n’ Chill.
