Barking Bake Off: Tiggy’s Doggy Biscuits

Made in Chelsea star, and mum to little Ottilie, Tabitha Willet loves to make her sister Tiggy’s homemade dog biscuit recipe for her King Charles Spaniel, Ruby.

The creator of the recipe, Tiggy, worked as a chef before going travelling a few years ago and although she now works in the travel industry, she cooked up a storm over lockdown and was inspired to start up a food account on Instagram – @tiggys.kitchen.

Tiggy developed her own dog treat recipe for Rolex, her four-legged friend who she adopted when living in Uganda.

Tiggy’s Doggie Biscuit Recipe

So many dog treat recipes these days are in American measures and have lots of unnecessary ingredients, but Tiggy’s is super easy and very healthy which is just as well as Rufus, being an elder statesman, has a delicate stomach and doesn’t always get on well with commercially made dog treats.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large sweet potato, roasted and the flesh scooped out. 180-200g
  • 150g whole wheat flour
  • 80g smooth pure peanut butter – Xylitol (sweetner) and palm oil free – check this in the ingredients list
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp runny honey
  • Optional – a handful of grated cheddar cheese

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius.
  2. Combine ingredients to get a smooth dough, you may need more flour depending on how large your sweet potato.
  3. Cheddar cheese optional – add a handful of grated cheese to the dough and then roll out as normal.
  4. Cut into desired shapes and bake at 180 for 14 minutes until golden. Allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container.

As with all treats, it’s best to give them out sparingly as you don’t want to upset your pooch’s tummy. You’re bound to have eager faces constantly peering up at the jar, but make sure they are only given out for special treats.

Are you thinking of baking up Tiggy’s Doggie Biscuits this week? We’d love to see pictures of them, especially if you manage to capture one before your four-legged friend gets to them! Be sure to tag us in your post @thepetspyjamas or use the hashtag #barkingbakeoff.

Have any recipes that you simply love to bake up for your pup? We’d love to see them as well! We’re always looking for inspiration of what to bake up next… And our furry friends don’t seem to complain when it comes to trying new homemade treats.

We also asked Tabitha and Tiggy where they’re looking to go on their next hound holiday

The sisters picked out three of their favourite doggie destinations. Check them out for yourself, or browse our full collection of dog-friendly hotels and dog-friendly cottages, and if you’re feeling inspired, give us a call on 020 3642 3162.
